Community Living

Green River offers students an opportunity to transition into independent living in a supportive and collaborative on-campus environment. Residents practice their communication skills in the shared living arrangement that is offered through 4-person apartments. Resident Assistants and Professional Student Housing Staff provide support for residents in their adjustment to shared living and provide resources to ensure a smooth transition.

Campus Corner Apartments is a shared living environment. Students should expect to share their space with three roommates and be willing to communicate and compromise on their expectations of cleanliness, noise, and socializing within their unit. Communication is key!

Residents are expected to work with their roommates to ensure that their apartment is clean and a comfortable living environment. Health and Safety Inspections are conducted each quarter to support residents in this area. Residents are expected to maintain their units so that they can pass a Health and Safety Inspection and are always adherent to their Unit Agreements. Residents can refer to our Health and Safety page for more information on inspections and cleaning expectations.

Unit Agreements

To support each resident in their living experience, a resident and their roommates will be expected to fill out a Unit Agreement (hyperlink Unit Agreement) outlining their expectations for shared living within their apartment. This in-person process will take place with the help of their Resident Assistant. The Unit Agreement gives an opportunity for residents to discuss their expectations about cleanliness, noise, guests, and other matters, as well as provides a guideline to determine if there is conflict later in the quarter.

Roomsync

Beginning in Fall 2026, residents will have the opportunity to use Roomsync, a roommate matching software, to select their own roommates.

Resident Assistants

Trained Resident Assistants offer critical support to our residents in their transition to independent living. Resident Assistants aid residents in mediating roommate conflict, referring students to resources to support their personal and academic lives, helping develop Unit Agreements, providing on-call emergency support, enforcing student housing policy, and most importantly, developing educational and social programming to bring together our Gator on-campus community!

If a resident is experiencing trouble in their unit with a roommate, they should contact their Resident Assistant for advice and mediation.
