WAMAP Math Entrance Exams

Achieve math placement through the Washington Mathematics Assessment and Placement (WAMAP) platform.

  • Test Fee: Free for Green River students; $10 per test for non-students.
  • Time: Un-timed, but plan for 1 to 1.5 hours.
  • Mode: Computer-based.
  • Process: Available in-person or online. For special hours or closures, visit www.greenriver.edu/testing. For online assessments, complete form here: greenriver.edu/request. The Placement & Testing Center may require in-person retakes if irregularities are detected.
  • Calculator Use: Allowed for all WAMAP exams.
  • Note: Math placement may be achieved via Directed Self-Placement (DSP) or WAMAP (MATH& 141 [w/o co-requisite], MATH& 142 or MATH& 151).

How to Prepare for Directed Self-Placement or WAMAP (Accessing the Review Site)

  1. Go to www.wamap.org
  2. Click on "Register as a new student"
  3. Enter your information
  4. The Course ID is 12499
  5. There is no Enrollment Key
  6. You may see a "Browser Check" page. If so, click the "Continue with Image-based display" button.
  7. Go back to the login screen; sign-in with username and password you created 
  8. Click on "GRC Math Review"
  9. Click on the math level you want to test for
  10. Take a Pre-Test, utilize Practice and Review Videos, and take the Post-Test as many times as necessary to prepare for the actual exam.  You can also go to the Math Learning Center (Cedar Hall 313) to access tutors and other resources to assist you with your math questions. 
  11. When you are ready to take the test that will count for placement, come to the Testing Center or request remote instructions here: greenriver.edu/request

WAMAP Testing Guidelines

  • Single Session: WAMAP must be completed in one session. You cannot pause and return later.
  • Duration: Although un-timed, it typically takes about 1 hour to complete.
  • Closure: If the test is interrupted due to the center closing, it will count, and retake guidelines will apply.

Retake Policy

Retake policies apply to all assessments - scores that do not follow the policy waiting periods are not valid and will not be recorded for course eligibility. 

 

  • To retake the same level of WAMAP remotely, complete this form:Retake Request 

  • There is a one-day waiting period to retake the WAMAP math assessment.

  • You will be locked out until your test is reset. Allow up to two business days for processing (no weekend processing). Once confirmed, you can retake the test.

For a new WAMAP level, wait one day and request a new Access Password. If multiple levels are taken on the same day, only the first attempt counts.

Please Note: It will take one to two business days for your results to be processed.
