Top 5 Strengths from StrengthsQuest:
What is one thing you wish you knew about college before you started as a student?
Get Involved! Joining GRC's Queer & Allies was the best thing that's ever happened
to me! I was a non-traditional student, first generation, and struggled to feel like
I belonged on campus as a 31 yr. old and having a community really made my college
experience better. I made a home in the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
(ODEI), something I credit to Dani Crivello-Chang, Benjamin Lealofi, and Marwa Almusawi.
Magic is performed in that office. I hope to bring that same magic to my new home
in the Career & Advising Center.
Also: TAKE NOTES, lots of notes in whatever way works for you!
What do you like to do when you're not working?
On days I'm not working you can find me perusing through literally any book store,
reading on the couch while my wife and child play video games, or looking for new
and delicious foods to try. I'm an avid social justice warrior, so you can also find
me pounding the pavement with a protest sign.
Biography
I am the granddaughter of an immigrant, born in SoCal and raised both in Anaheim and
in our beautiful Pacific Northwest. I graduated from West Auburn High School in 2004,
am a domestic-violence survivor, and spent 12 years as a single mom before meeting
my wife in Queer & Allies. My family has lost two languages: Gaelic and Spanish, which
I hope to learn and recover. I'm an avid lover of Old Skool hot rods and rat rods,
I'm Disney obsessed, and I collect FunkoPops. My new life goal is to travel and immerse
myself in as many cultures as possible. I'm committed to helping all students navigate
the collegiate process in the hope of making it as equitable and accessible as possible.
