Lily Nguyen is from Vietnam and graduated from Green River College in 2016. She was just accepted into the University of Washington's Doctor of Pharmacy program. She is grateful for her time at Green River College as it helped her to develop the skills needed to succeed.
"When I reflect on my three years at the Green River College (GRC), I realize that the experience not only made me a better student, but also provided me authentic and memorable college years. I am very grateful for my time at Green River for a number of reasons:
Green River helped me to overcome my shyness and make friends from around the world.
"I have always been a naturally shy person, but GRC pushed me to find and try new things every day. The college organizes many events on campus throughout the academic year, and they are always fun and informative. Through these events, I made friends from around the world.
Green River has small classes and instructors that care
"Another reason why I am grateful for choosing GRC is the small classes and professional teachers. I had the opportunity to spend more time getting to know the teachers and I could quickly ask questions during lectures. What sets GRC apart from other colleges is that the teachers genuinely care about students’ success and well-being. They will do everything they can to help you whenever you reach out for help. Thank you, Green River, for challenging me academically and personally to step out of my comfort zone.
I gained leadership and communications skills through working and volunteering on campus
"Besides studying, I also worked as a student assistant for the Admission and Business Office of the International Programs. I encourage every student to spend their time volunteering and participating in school clubs and events because through experiences like these, you can learn many essential skills such as leadership and communication skills that we cannot study solely in class.
Thanks to Green River I was accepted into the UW Doctor of Pharmacy Program
"I then transferred to the University of Washington to continue my education and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry. Soon I found my interest in science, and it gradually grew into my love for pharmacy. I now realize that becoming a pharmacist is my ultimate destination. After years of hard work and dedication, I finally got accepted into the University of Washington's Doctor of Pharmacy Program, Class of 2023. I am beyond happy and grateful to GRC for preparing me for this journey. My experiences at Green River played a massive role in shaping everything I do at UW. I want to thank GRC for allowing me to freely express myself, for being my little community, and for being a healthy environment, where I could learn and still have fun."
