Sixty universities participated in the transfer fair at Green River College this past month, including top schools such as University of Washington, Embry-Riddle, Wisconsin, Purdue, and UC Santa Cruz.
Green River College International Programs hosts transfer fairs twice a year so that students can meet with representatives from four-year universities in the USA. This gives students the opportunity to meet with school reps from across the country - all in one room.
Nearly 300 students attended the fair and they were well-prepared with questions in hand, thanks to a Transfer Fair Workshop that was held the week before in order to brief students on what questions to ask. International Student Advisors talked about the importance of asking clarifying questions in order to find the right school. Some examples included questions about costs, scholarships, location/weather, admission rate, and career opportunities. In addition, students were sent a breakdown of the universities in attendance and their majors and if they offer scholarships. See University Transfer Information Sheet.
Universities reps were very impressed by our students, one representative from, Seattle Pacific University said, "We ended up with some good engagement from the event, so I wanted to briefly extend my thanks to you for hosting the event with such a welcoming environment."
Kerry Kwon, International Student Advisor and Manager of University Partnerships said, "We are thankful for everyone that participated in this in-person transfer fair. It was nice to see IEP faculty like Fred come with his students. We created a guide for students which they appreciated."
The next Transfer Fair is scheduled for winter 2025.
