Learn Chinese at GRC
1.31 billion people speak Chinese in the world! That's approximately 16 percent of the world's population. Being able to communicate in Chinese will open many study and job opportunities in our country and abroad.
Did You Know?
- There are three different levels of Chinese language courses (one year total) offered at GRC.
- CHIN 121 is offered ever quarter. CHIN 122 and CHIN 123 are in sequence after CHIN 121. Course can be offered in virtual/hybrid, face-to-face/hybrid. Courses are offered in the morning.
- Courses are supported by a Language Center that offers tutoring free of charge for our students daily, and conversation exchanges weekly with native speakers.
- CHIN 146: Chinese Culture and Life is taught in English. Course is taught online.
- Courses are taught by an experienced instructor who formerly taught at Ivy League university.
- Fulfill Humanities requirement for the AA degree.
- Fulfill University transfer/graduation requirements.
- Fulfill requirements for the GRC Asian Studies and Global Studies Concentrations.
- Work towards proficiency certification such as the Global Seal of Biliteracy to add to your resume.
- Work towards the Foreign Language Requirement of the universities and colleges that students are transferring to.
- Students can join the study abroad programs in mainland China and Taiwan.
- Prepare students for scholarship opportunities.
- Open career paths in areas such as translation, education, business, and technology.

Germany has one of the biggest economies in the world, so knowing German can help you work in business, science, or technology. You could also become a translator, teacher, or work for a company that does business with Europe.
German is useful in jobs like travel and tourism, engineering, international law, and government. It also helps if you want to study or work abroad. Speaking German shows that you can think clearly, learn new things, and connect with people from other cultures—skills that are helpful in any career.
