Dixie Cattell, CCR, RPR Cattell & Associates
I graduated from Green River in 1980, working for a freelance agency for a year before venturing out on my own. Over the years my clientele grew to the point of needing to hire other reporters to help me. My business is located in Olympia, and I have recently opened the first public videoconferencing room in the Olympia area. I love reporting and technology and would welcome questions from any students. I would love to share with you any knowledge I can to help make the transition easier from student to working reporter.
My hobbies include: boating in the San Juan's every summer, downhill skiing, biking, gardening, horseshoes, reading and cross-stitch.
Kasey Manning, CART provider
I have been working as a CART provider in the educational field since 2001. I've worked at the high school, community college and university levels, both on site and online. I do remote CART work over the internet and have captioned classes all over the United States and in Canada.
When not working, I enjoy crafts, reading and Husky football. I look forward to any questions or concerns you may have about educational captioning.
Vicki Sproat, CCR CART Provider
I am a former Green River Computer Reporting Technologies student. While in the CRPT program, I was a student volunteer providing CART for the Auburn Self-Help for Hard of Hearing (SHHH) chapter (now Hearing Loss Association of America, HLAA) and continued after leaving Green River and obtaining my CCR. I was employed as an editor for Caption Colorado on financial calls from 2003-2004.
I obtained my Washington CCR license in 2007 and am currently working toward RPR, CCP and CRR certifications.
I currently provide CART services primarily in the university setting but also other environments, including:
- company conventions, meetings, seminars
- Microsoft team meetings and seminars
- physician and pre- & post-operative appointments
- college graduations
- Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center community forums
- DSHS/DVR meetings and training
- Pierce County Superior Court proceedings
- Pierce County Sheriff's Department contract negotiations
- Pierce County Emergency Management Training seminars
- homeowner association meetings
In my spare time I enjoy boating anywhere in Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands and training my mini Australian Shepherd in agility. I also enjoy photography, birding, camping and vegetable gardening. I've been a 5-year team member on the MSfits in Tena Shoes for MS Walk Seattle.
Kim Rashell, Broadcast Captioner VITAC
I am a real-time broadcast captioner. I have been employed as a captioner since 2006,
first with Caption Colorado, and since June 2011, with VITAC. As a broadcast captioner,
I caption local and national television shows in real time. Some examples of the kinds
of programming I work on are national shopping network broadcasts, national/local
news programming, and live sporting events. I've captioned every kind of sporting
event imaginable, from horse racing to rugby, hockey to football, even the Olympic
Games. I am a full-time employee, which means I am on the air from 22-25 hours a week,
but I also get to work from home.
When I'm not in front of my computer, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two
young children. I love my job because it allows me to be a stay-at-home mom during
the day and work at night. At the same time, I am able to have a full-time salary
without ever having to worry about daycare or sitters for my kids.
Kristin Vickery, CCR Seattle Deposition Reporters
I am a freelance court reporter and a former student of Green River College's Computer Reporting Technologies Court Reporting program. I currently serve as a board member on the program's advisory committee. I obtained my Washington state CCR in 2007 and I am currently working with Seattle Deposition Reporters. My experience spans from depositions to board hearings. In my spare time, I enjoy whitewater rafting.
