Nargiza
Uzbekistan, SUSI 2017
Everyone who knows Nargiza, knows how much she loves children. When she set out to plan her SUSI follow-on project, she knew she wanted to do something to help vulnerable children in Uzbekistan. Nargiza organized a visit to a hospital dedicated to helping children with Cerebral palsy. The purpose of Nargiza's visit was to spend quality time with the children, conduct classes with them, and to help them further develop their motor and physical skills. At her request, the popular children's theater group "Tomosha" also came to the hospital and performed songs and dances for the all of the children. After the concert, Nargiza went to classes, where she distributed special games, books and other educational materials to help promote cognition and logic skills. In addition, she brought toys for the youngest patients. She also worked with hospital staff and volunteers to conduct psychology classes, where they tried to inspire the children and explain that their future holds unlimited possibilities.
For Nargiza, the most rewarding outcome of the day was witnessing the children's happiness. In her words, “Every day for these children is a fight with themselves. At the end of day, I made one conclusion: they are much stronger than any healthy person and, perhaps, even kinder.”
During the day, Nargiza recorded some video clips of special moments. She wishes to share this video online so that “people can see and not forget that we can help all vulnerable people, because they need not only material things, but also attention and communication.”
