SUSI 2016

In a project titled “Week of Motivation,” Nagima led a week of leadership and teambuilding training for 30 high school students from her hometown. She used creative and interactive activities to help students understand the characteristics of successful leaders, including the formula of success and building SMART goals; communication and business etiquette. Nagima also delivered information about college programs and scholarship opportunities to motivate students to seek higher education goals. At the end of the week students worked in groups to plan their own social action follow-on projects. Within one month, groups completed five unique projects benefiting younger children and their communities. As a result, Nagima noted that all students “witnessed that it is more effective to learn something by teaching others and practicing…Now they are well-motivated to change their community and empower others to improve their lives.” During the project implementation period, the city mayor learned about Nagima's student-led projects and was so impressed that he encouraged them to widen the scope of their projects to reach even more community members! Nagima's project is a shining example of the broad and positive impact SUSI has; not just on selected participants, but on citizens of the world.
