Albina

Kazakhstan, SUSI 2017

After completing the SUSI program, Albina reconnected with a women's shelter where she had volunteered in the past. “Mom's House” provides housing, psychological, and financial support for pregnant women and women with children up to 18 months old. They help women who have been abandoned by their partners or subjected to domestic violence.

Together with the manager of Mom's House, Albina organized a master baking class for ten residents. The women already had a passion for baking but wanted to transform their skills into a marketable business opportunity. A professional baker delivered a day-long MasterClass, teaching the women to make traditional cakes, biscuits and pies. The graduates of the class hope to establish home baking businesses to help support their families.

Albina shared, “We…helped them to believe in themselves, we motivated them to continue and implement their plans and ideas. We gave them as much inspiration and support as we could. We hope our project gave a push to these women and they confidently will continue their way!”
