About Hispanic Studies
Hispanic Studies is all about learning more about Spanish-speaking people, places, and cultures. In this program, you’ll explore the history, language, literature, art, and traditions of countries in Latin America, Spain, and other parts of the Spanish-speaking world. You’ll also learn how Hispanic cultures have shaped the world we live in today.
This program helps you understand different points of view and prepares you to work with diverse communities. It’s a great choice if you enjoy learning about culture, want to improve your Spanish, or are thinking about careers in education, travel, business, or social work.
Students will achieve this goal by taking courses which meet the program’s four core competencies:
- career-oriented skills
- foreign language proficiency
- intercultural competence
- professional skills and service leadership
