Green River College to Celebrate the Life of Founding President Mel Lindbloom

Mel Lindbloom celebration of life, Friday May 20, 2022

Green River College will celebrate the life and legacy of founding president, Dr. Melvin (Mel) Lindbloom at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022. The event will take place both in-person in the Mel Lindbloom Student Union and virtually on Zoom. 

Linbloom started his career at Sultan High School where he taught several subjects and coached football, wrestling and baseball. He went on to be the Superintendent of Schools in Quincy, WA, the Assistant Superintendent of Schools in the Auburn School District and in 1964 he became the Founding President of Green River College where he remained until he retired in 1980. Dr. Lindbloom passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 10, 2020, he was 94 years old.
