Green River College Announces AA Degree With Concentration in Broadcast and Digital Media

Keeping pace with changing dynamics in the journalism industry, Green River College is now offering a new Associate of Arts degree with a concentration in broadcast and digital media.

The 27-credit concentration offers students safe ways to study and advance their education.
Distance learning is available for these required, cutting-edge classes that comprise 17 credits: videojournalism, podcasting, broadcasting and digital media, and a class that introduces the variety of careers in digital media.
For students interested specifically in the radio industry, an additional 10 credits can come from a range of classes such as audio editing and technology, and broadcast and new media announcing.
For those interested in other areas of the broadcast and digital media industry, the additional 10 credits can come from a range of classes such as mobile/social media journalism, broadcast/digital marketing, and introduction to mass media.
The college has two student-run radio stations, award-winning KGRG-FM and KGRG-1. Each provides hands-on experience with instruction in broadcast techniques and related work with the stations' web sites, apps, and social media platforms.
The college’s award-winning student publication, The Current, is now available exclusively online. Student-journalists get hands-on experience operating the website, its app and extending its reach via popular social media platforms. The Current recently sponsored its first-ever Quarantine Film Festival, tapping into the growing number of students interested in producing their own videos.
