Ezeonu named GRC's next Vice President of Instruction

Green River College has named Dr. Rolita Flores Ezeonu its new Vice President of Instruction. She will join the College on July 2, 2018.
Ezeonu has over twenty years of experience in higher education. Ezeonu served as the Interim Vice President of Instruction since 2017 and as Dean of Instruction for Transfer and Pre-College Education at Highline College since 2008 in Des Moines, Washington.
“Dr. Ezeonu brings a deep commitment to the community college mission, with over 20 years of academic experience in the classroom and in administrative leadership,” said Green River College President, Dr. Suzanne M. Johnson. “I am eager for her to become a member of our academic community. She will be a tremendous asset and support for our faculty and the college as a whole in service to our students and communities.”
Prior to her administrative work, Ezeonu served as both an adjunct and tenured faculty member in Communication Studies since 1998. In her roles at Highline, Dr. Ezeonu was responsible for providing direction for all academic divisions and departments; implementing and coordinating academic programs with learning outcomes to strengthen student retention, transitions and completion; and working closely with faculty and staff to close the opportunity gap for students of color through targeted initiatives and programs.
Ezeonu’s experience in higher education academic leadership runs deep. She served as a Faculty Senate division representative, member of the Assessment committee, campus liaison for community-based organizations and school districts that serve low-income, out-of-school youth, immigrant and refugee populations, and served on the administration team for faculty union negotiations.
Her community work includes serving as a board member of Para Los Niños and Greenbridge Foundation board and as a member of the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) dream team, to investigate the opportunity gap in K-12 education. She is a peer reviewer for NWCCU accreditation teams.
Ezeonu earned her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in the community college from Seattle University, a Master of Arts degree in Communication from Washington State University, Pullman, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication/Public Relations from Washington State University, Pullman. She also holds a certificate in “Closing the Achievement Gap” from Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
Green River College is eager to welcome Dr. Ezeonu to campus. She will join the College on July 2, 2018.
