Pre-College & Basic Skills
Adult Basic Education (ABE)
Our Basic Skills program is for adults who may have experienced educational gaps and missed the opportunity to develop certain skills or complete necessary steps in their education. We offer different kinds of help, from traditional-style classes to individualized instruction for particular skill development.
Students may work on GED preparation, basic reading, writing and mathematics, career exploration and study skills. These classes help adults who want to improve, refresh or learn basic skills in English writing, reading and math or computation.
Self-improvement and understanding, based on individual needs rather than group competition, are the foundation of the ABE program. Students participate in the planning and evaluation of the quality and quantity of their work. They work at a realistic pace in terms of their strengths and needs.
Requirements
Students will be given a skills assessment before being allowed to register. Students between 16 and 19 years old must get “Release of Student” forms from their high schools before they can register for these classes.
Costs
$25 tuition per quarter.
