Final report posted, completing reaccreditation process


The final step to Green River's reaccreditation has been completed.

The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities final Peer Evaluation Report to Green River was posted on the college's Accreditation website last week, the final step in the college's reaccreditation process. The college's bid to be accredited until 2020 was approved July 17.

The NWCCU's final report may be found under "Reports from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities to Green River." The 41-page document details the evaluation committee's findings, commendations and recommendations to the college.

The accreditation team completed its three-day onsite visit April 22 through 24. Members met with students, faculty, staff, administrators and members of the board of trustees to evaluate how the college met the commission's standards in areas such as resources and capacity, institutional and core theme planning and mission fulfillment.

The NWCCU first granted accreditation to Green River in 1967. The positive status allows the college to receive federal financial aid for students. The commission is an independent non-profit organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. It assesses colleges and universities in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington to ensure the quality of education and institutional improvement.
