New Director of International Advising hired

Sandra Spadoni went to Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service for her undergraduate education and studied abroad in Russia. She went on to get a Masters in TESOL at American University. Sandra lived and worked in Zambia doing community education and has traveled widely.She is currently a student in a doctoral program in higher education leadership at the University of Washington.

Sandra joined us from UW Tacoma where she served as Assistant Director of International Student Services since 2011. Previously Sandra was at University of Chicago for four years serving as the Assistant Director in the Office of Int’l Affairs and was also a Resident Head in Undergraduate Housing. Sandra has combined experience in all aspects of student service and enrollment: outreach/recruitment, admissions, orientation, housing, registration, advising, ESL instruction, immigration, programming, event planning, and activities.

Sandra will be attending NAFSA, so do let us know if you are planning to attend so that we can introduce you to our new GRCC team member.

Foundation for Success for all new students starting fall 2014

The Foundation for Success program was initially designed for first quarter 16-17 year olds to give younger students mentoring and guidance to get a good start. We are expanding the program, and beginning Fall 2014 all new first quarter students will be required to take Foundation for Success. The cost is $100. More information.

Apply early for Campus Corner Apartments for fall quarter

If Campus Corner Apartments is the first choice for housing for your fall quarter applicants, encourage them to apply for housing as soon as possible. Placement priority is based on date of received completed housing application, including the $300 placement fee. We typically have a waiting list for fall quarter. Apply early!

NAFSA Conference May 25-30 in San Diego

Let us know if you are planning to attend the NAFSA conference in San Diego this year. Several Green River staff members will be attending. Also, since you will be on the West Coast, we invite you to come up to Seattle to visit our campus either before or after the conference.
