Green River College and partners celebrate launch of new program

By Green River College & Olympic College, August 29, 2022

This fall, students in Kitsap and Mason counties will have the opportunity to launch a career in aviation, thanks to a new partnership between Green River College, Olympic College, and Avian Flight Center in Bremerton.

Through the new partnership, students who graduate from Olympic College's Aviation Technology Associate of Applied Science program (which will begin offering classes on Sept. 19), will be qualified to enter GRC’s Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) program in Aeronautical Science. The BAS program at Green River College is an additional 6 quarters (90 credits) of fully online coursework.

“We are thrilled to partner with Olympic College on the Aviation Technology program,” Green River College President Dr. Suzanne Johnson said. “Both of our campuses are situated with airports in our communities, and we are excited to expand employment opportunities at these and other facilities for program graduates.”

On Aug. 27, program partners came together at Bremerton National Airport to celebrate the start of classes being offered at Olympic College’s Bremerton Campus, and Avian Flight Center, located at the airport. The program launch is part of the annual Bremerton Fly-In & Car Show at the airport, featuring in-air formation demonstrations, plane rides, helicopter rides, and much more.

“I couldn’t think of a more appropriate event to launch our partnership with Green River College, than the Fly-in and Car Show,” said Olympic College President Marty Cavalluzzi, Ph.D. “This program will lead to family-wage careers, with the opportunity for students to continue their studies online at Green River College.
